The Long Finned Platinum Angelfish is a striking variety of Pterophyllum scalare, admired for its elegant, elongated fins and deep, white coloration (and sometimes with pearlscaling) that glides gracefully through the water. This cichlid displays a calm and regal demeanor when kept in suitable conditions but can become territorial, especially during breeding. Angelfish prefer a well-maintained aquarium with soft, slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 6.5–7.2) and temperatures between 78–82°F (25–28°C). They thrive in tall, planted tanks that allow space for their flowing fins and vertical swimming habits. When breeding, pairs form strong bonds and will carefully guard their eggs, usually laid on broad leaves or smooth surfaces. Ideal tank mates include peaceful, similarly sized species such as tetras, gouramis, corydoras, and non-fin-nipping community fish. Reaching an adult size of about 6 inches (15 cm) in height and 4 inches (10 cm) in body length, the Platinum Angelfish combines grace and intelligence, making it a centerpiece in any well-balanced aquarium.
