Cardinal Tetras are a vibrant, peaceful schooling fish that bring stunning color and harmony to any freshwater aquarium.
The Cardinal Tetra (Paracheirodon axelrodi) is a small, fish native to the Orinoco and Rio Negro river basins in South America. It features a glowing neon-blue stripe along its body paired with a vivid red stripe that runs from nose to tail—making it one of the most visually striking species in the hobby. These fish thrive in soft, acidic water with temperatures between 73–81°F (23–27°C) and a pH of 4.6–6.2, ideally in a well-planted tank with subdued lighting to mimic their natural habitat Aquarium Source Aquarium Nexus. They are peaceful and do best in groups of six or more, where they exhibit mesmerizing shoaling behavior. With a lifespan of 4–5 years in captivity, Cardinal Tetras are relatively easy to care for and adapt well to community tanks. Their dazzling coloration, gentle temperament, and dynamic schooling make them a favorite among aquarists seeking both beauty and tranquility in their aquatic setups.
All of our Cardinal Tetras have been quarantined for not less than 2 months. These are not new arrivals, they have been proven to be very healthy and fed up to be robust.
